The Story

Yakutia, Siberia — Late Pleistocene, circa 20,000 years ago

This 8′ 3″ woolly mammoth tusk is an exceptional example of Ice Age craftsmanship by nature itself — beautifully preserved, richly coloured, and elegantly curved. The sweeping crescent form rises in a bold, balanced arc, showcasing both strength and grace.

Its surface displays remarkable natural coloration: deep blue and slate tones merge with warm amber, honey, and cream bands, creating striking contrast and visual depth. Near the base, caramel and golden hues transition into cooler mineral blues toward the tip. When light catches it, the surface reveals subtle iridescence and a soft inner glow — the result of mineralization within the Siberian permafrost over thousands of years.

These hues, caused by trace minerals such as vivianite and iron oxides, give the tusk its distinctive, one-of-a-kind character. The finish is smooth and lustrous, emphasizing the natural patterning and fine grain of the ivory.

Presented on a custom solid oak stand, the tusk commands attention as both a scientific specimen and a statement piece — perfectly suited for a museum, private collection, or refined interior.

All Fossil Realm mammoth tusks are professionally stabilized to ensure structural integrity. For longevity, they should be displayed in an indoor setting with stable humidity (50–60%) and temperature (68–78 °F).

Fossil mammoth ivory is legally distinct from modern elephant ivory — identifiable by the angle of its Schreger lines — and can be traded internationally in accordance with current regulations.
